What are health hazards to farmers who harvest opium, and are exposed to it day after day? Physical signs?

I am doing research on the health and life expectancy of Afghans living/working in rural areas, and how to improve their condition. Opium is one of Afghanistan's primary exports, so the farmers who plant, nurture, and harvest are one of my concerns.

1. nothing.. the problem is legalities. improve their conditions? how about stopping the war and invasions first of all? why are YOU concerned about a opium farmer first of all? you haven't applied that in detail.
