Fire & Safety Code?

I have looked up the Fire & Safety code for Apartment buildings, but when I find it, it states, only if the building is more than three levels above street level and only if there is 6 or more living units. Our apartment is 3 stories high and has 5 living units, because where one should be, there is a garage. So does this apply for us? Because we have no fire extinguishers or signs in our building! So according to the IL Fire & Safety Code, these things are required by law. If not, what are we required to have than?

  1. Call your local Building Dept. where permits are issued, they will give you the answers.
  2. You are asking for specific legal advice. No one here can give you such advice. Speak to a local attorney who is familiar with or can look up the law in your jurisdiction.
  3. Lucky you dont live in the UK, fire extinguishers have just been banned in comunial areas (honest)
  4. We are not the law. You need to ask somebody legally who can tell you like the firebrigade. Even tell your local building and possibly the police if this is worrying you.. Good Luck
