First off, and I expect I will soon be audited for it. The IRS should be outlawed. It is an unconstitutional activity. See the evidence at The Constitution Party's Website. The American people have suffered at the hands of the IRS and Congress who drives them to tighten the screws on its own citizens more and more. Congress spends an outrageous amount of money, that could easily be better used by her citizens. Senator McCain, I respect you as a good and decent man, but, I feel even you have closed your eyes to the suffering of your own people. Your own citizens, who fear their own government more than anyone else in the world. Ask them that. Ask them who they are more afraid of, some group of religious fanatics, or their own government. The government spends our hard earned money on "Congressional Fact Finding Vacations" and useless projects that make them look caring, while they vote themselves payraises and benefits, while the American citizen is told to lookout for him/herself, and by the way, "we need to print up no smoking signs for Congress, so we'll be raising your taxes again". Congress, the House and the Senate is soo busy splitting the profits, that the people it was designed to protect and defend are trampled under foot. Then, after we,the people, are finished being pressed by the Federal government, the sate and local revunue systems step into press us again, with outrageous property and income taxes to bulster their revenue. Why is crime so high? Because local and state police agencies are busy spending more and more money, to catch drunk drivers(each of which yeilds them $10,000 to $40,000 in fees and seized property), than catching real criminals that costs the state money to house. You tell me which type of law enforcement you would push to raise state revenues. The United States should be returned to a Tariff-based tax system. The IRS and their state cohorts need to be abolished. A flat tax, sales tax that encourages the government to let her people thrive, is what the people of this once great nation deserve. Police departments need to return to the service that they were intended, the defense and safety of the citizen, not, the stuffing and revenue generating monsters thay have become. Congress needs to be returned to the people also. As of now, the Congress supports laws that it knows are un-Constitutional and they are aware that these laws violate the rights of EVERY citizen. Once the Congress is forced to repeal these un-Constitutional laws, then it will be made to look at how much is coming in and what NEEDS to be funded. And then Federal AND state funding will come into line, when they will not be able to simply pass another tax increase to pay for its foleys. One day the government AND the citizens of this country will be reminded, that government rules by the consent of the people. There will come a day when, we the people, will stand up for OUR RIGHTS. And no longer fear the very government that has promised to defend them. WE THE PEOPLE...that is who this government must answer to. WE THE PEOPLE...will someday put aside our differences and STAND UP for ourselves. God...that will be a beautiful day for this nation and her citizens when WE THE PEOPLE are truly free to pursue our happiness, live a LIFE in LIBERTY. To respond to some of the comments. I do NOT advocate anarchy. I love this country right or wrong, I've even served in its military. I do believe, however, that the way Congress has in the past and still now administers its finances. That if it were you and I, we would be in jail for fraud some other reason. This country ran just fine on a tarrif-based economy in the past, and it just so happens, at that time, we had NO national debt. The government would NOT collapse or be displaced. The government would still be allowed to tax you, but, directly and have to show cause as to why. Not, just because they can. Fear that the government might collapse if we didn't have something is NOT a reason to give Congress the right to VIOLATE the Constitution. READ IT. It spells out EXACTLY what the Congress can tax and for what reasons. It is Clearly put forth in Article 1, Section 8 AND the 10th Amendment. It is very percise and the framers made it that way for a reason, to prevent abuse of power. Remember that the founders of our great nation fought a war to secure themselves from unfair and restrictive taxation, in addition to securing our freedom from a tyrant 1000 miles away. I would be will to bet, that they knew just what could happen if that power to tax was abused the way it is now. Arturo V- I do pay my taxes, to use those services if needed. I also pay a registration fee that allows me to use this countries roads. And I like to swim and walk, at least for now, as they are one of the few things not taxed in this country. I don't advocate not having those services. And they are provided for under the Constitution. I don't think we shouldn't be taxed at all. I just believe that Congress should be held accountable to the Constitution. I keep mentioning the Constitution and nobody has mentioned that Congress should amend it to allow an income tax. They wouldn't dare, they know that it would be ADMITTING its un-Constitutional to begin with.
