I just snuck into my physics lab and opened a barrel that said "Danger: Plutonium." Am I in trouble?
I mean, I figured the huge radiation hazard sign and the warning were just ways to scare me away from gold. You know how people are always trying to do stuff like that in order to scare you away from their gold? But so far, I just see a lot of wax in this barrel. If I dig deep enough through the wax, do you think I'll find the gold?

- I think you need to hone your trolling skills.
- perhaps not plutonium, but no it's definitely not gold, why the fuck would they hide gold in a physics lab, ur stupid. perhaps not plutonium, but there may be alkali or rare earth metals in there, alkali & rare earth metals are very very active and electropositive and they will try to steal any electrons in their surroundings, so when you store them, you HAVE to store them in oil or wax. if it was either of them, ur lucky that you didn't touch the metal.. but i don't think it's plutonium unless it's a safe isotope because i would imagine that it would be illegal to have that in a class lab.
- Any lab storing Plutonium in a manner that someone like you can just open up a barrel and get to it out to get shut down for obviously violating NRC licensing requirements for the storage and security of such a strongly regulated source material like that. And no, they don't normally store the gold in drums like that. Normally labs hide the gold in the boxes labeled "DANGER HIGH VOLTAGE".
