Why do people park in the Fire Lane and turn on their Hazard Lights?
Why do people turn on their hazard lights and park in the Fire Lane? The sign says FIRE LANE - NO PARKING. Oh, but I guess some people think that the rule applies to everyone else but them. Why do they think that they are so "special"? NO!! THEY ARE NOT EXEMPT!!

- It is dumb because putting on your lights makes you even more visible to the meter maid.
- They are too lazy or cheap to park elsewhere and walk. This does not apply to delivery persons though or people or package drop off & pick up.
- Egotistical maniacs. Narcissists.
- People do it because everybody seems to do it, (although it's techinically illegal). If it's not strictly enforced, it's easier to do. I see it all the time at our grocery store, due to weather or elderly people waiting, or a ton of groceries w/a couple of children. The police in our area let it go as long as the person is gone in a few very short minutes and I think a person with their hazard lights on is prepared to move at a moment's notice. Another factor in the mix is that you are not actually pulling into a parking space, but rather a lane which allows you the freedom to drive on immediately. Just saying, some people don't do it because they think they're "special", it's more about convenience.
