Free Safety Signs

Can anyone help me remove this spyware?

I am trying to remove a spyware from my computer that overrides my home page with an "Internet Security" page. It also has added a toolbar and an icon. The icon is a hazard sign with an exclamation point and randomly a balloon pops up that says "Crytical System Errors". When I right click on the icon it brings up a page in my main screen to download "Virusbursters". The toolbar has a lock that keeps me from removing it and it overrides another toolbar. I have already downloaded and ran Spybot today and have an updated Norton Internet Security program. I depend on this computer for my college course! Please HELP!

  1. go into control panel, add/remove programs, and check the list there for any program installed that resembles this name... its not REALLY spyware, you've probably just inadvertantly accepted a download which in fairness to you, was probably very innocently named... but check the list, it should be in there.
  2. You'll probably have to try several anti-spyware programs. One program will find something another one won't, so it's necessary to use more than one.
  3. NO WORRIES GO TO HIJACKTHIS.COM AND GET THE TOOL FOR FREE INSTALL AND RUN U WILL GET THE LOGS PASTE IT TO THEIR WEBSITE AND ALSO GET WINDOWS DEFENDER FROM MICROSOFT WEBPAGE AND MALWARE REMOVAL FROM MICROSOFT.COM .. YOU WILL BE OUT OF THE SPYWARE MESS.. IF POSIBLE TRY TO FIND IT OUT FROM UR ADD/REMOVE PROGRAM AND IF U FIND IT UNINSTALL IT.TAKE CARE AND GOOD LUCK
  4. make sure your anti spyware software is updated. i recommend getting ad aware or at least one other program becasue they all miss some spyware. go to the control panel, add/remove programs and remove any listings of toolbars and any other so called spy ware programs in that list. reboot into safe mode by hitting f8 repeatedly on the reboot. run your spyware program in safe mode and hopefully it will remove anything left.
  5. OK ...I can show you how to remove it manually. It is a long process but if you are up to it there is a good possibility it will fix the issue. Here goes Goto http://www.hijackthis.de and download the program called Hijackthis to do this click on the link Direct Download and save it to a folder on your desktop. Unzip the file and run the program, you will get a few options select the one that says Do a system scan and save a log file. You will see a notepad file come up with lots of stuff just copy the stuff in there and go back to the site http://www.hijackthis.de and paste all the text into the box and click analyze. You should now see a table with all the results, the items marked in the table with a red are the ones that need to be removed. Go back to the hijackthis program you will see the whole list and some boxes next to them check the boxes comparing the onces marked in red in the site and then click the button fixed checked. Restart the computer go through this process again to check if the infected items you removed havent returned. Now open Internet Explorer goto Tool - Internet Options - select the programs tab and select Reset Web settings and then select the Advanced tab and uncheck the option enable third party browser extensions and click ok and make sure you close all Internet Explorer window. Now run your spybot and cleanup any remaining items and I think you should be good to go. ALTERNATIVELY CALL MICROSOFT PERSONAL SUPPORT AND THEY WILL GO THROUGH THE MANUAL REMOVAL PROCESS FOR FREE... just tell them you have a spyware on your machine.
